Christmas market
The event year at Satzvey Castle comes to an atmospheric close with what is probably the most beautiful and romantic Christmas market with a medieval nativity play.
Opening hours on all 4 Advent weekends:
Saturdays from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m.
Sundays from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m.
Numerous vendors offer their wares on the castle grounds. From handmade gifts such as wooden toys, Christmas tree decorations, nativity scenes, soaps, and incense to culinary specialties from the region, visitors will find everything they need for a successful celebration and sparkling eyes.
Nativity play staged according to medieval models
For almost three decades now, Burg Satzvey has been presenting a nativity play several times a day in the castle park, which is modeled on the Stauffer era in its detailed design and costumes. At that time, very few people could read, so this was how the Christmas story was told to them. The scenes are brought to life by the ringing of the proclamator's bell. The events known from the Bible are spoken and acted out in Latin and Middle High German and translated into understandable language for the audience by the Proclamator.
Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Big things for little ones!
Santa's workshop welcomes all children to the castle. Hard-working elves in precious robes help them with crafts and activities. Here, the little ones can write their wish lists and then hand them over to Santa Claus himself. On Saturdays until 3 p.m., Santa Claus fills the children's boots or hats that they have brought with them.
